Damn-o Mammo

Okay here's the deal...I had a mammogram on Friday. Friday was the 13th in case anyone forgot. I didn't let any superstitions about it being the 13th become a factor in this equation though. However, I must say that it cannot be normal for my tits to be sore like they are today. I've had a mammogram before and I didn't remember it being that bad. Honestly, I didn't think it was that bad this past Friday either, but they are so sore that it bothers me to wear a bra. Could it just be that this is my Friday the 13th curse since I was so nonchalant about my mammo experience. Or is this just what happens with age and the forces of gravity on my bosom. At any rate, I must say that now I am a little more apprehensive about the next round of tit smashing. I guess as long as the results come back okay then I will be thankful and considered myself blessed.

Tell me something.....
How in the world do they keep breast implants from exploding under the pressure of the Mammography plates???

Yes, I am a thief. I found this image on somebody else's site today, and I thought it was cute and in some strange way appropriate.

I have come to live with the fact that SHIT does indeed happen. You just have to deal with the shit. You can't change the shit. Therefore, you must learn to embrace the shit.

You just have to love the shit out of the shit.
Eventually, there will come a time that the shit, though still existing, will not seem to be such a bother. I can't say that I have always lived by this philosophy, but I resolve that I will do my best in the upcoming year to not let the shit get to me. Knowing that the shit will always be a part of life I will stand tall and proud and say...
"Shit may happen, but it doesn't always have to stink!"

Okay, let's just say I am over the "Christmas Funk" now.

Funny, but true, I was watching the Today Show this AM and they were talking about Seasonal Affective Disorder(S.A.D.). I have never heard of such a thing before, but I am sure now that is what I must have. I went online and found this website about it, and it is pretty interesting information http://www.ncpamd.com/seasonal.htm I must say I have never felt this way until this year. I am already feeling better and I hope this feeling will pass altogether very soon.

Anyway, all of the decorations are out, the lights are adorning the house (beautiful I must say), and the tree is up. Yes, the tree is up, but did I say decorated? No...I did not. The tree went up three days ago and yesterday I added the ribbons and the tree topper. I know it sounds weird, but we are dealing with a 1yr. old this year. He has done amazingly well so far. I realize the tree topper would NORMALLY be added last, but since when am I normal? Actually, it seemed perfectly logical to me because that is the highest point on the tree and I know Holden cannot reach it. So, at least, I have something on my tree. I fully intend on decorating the tree today (at least my intentions are good). We shall see how it goes.

WOW...today is December 1st.

I believe this is the first year ever that I am NOT motivated for Christmas. I am sure that I will be celebratory soon, but as of yet I can't even bring myself to shop for gifts. Maybe it has more to do with my MALL ANXIETY than anything else. Not to mention the fact that I can sometimes be the world's biggest procrastinator.

Don't get me wrong about Christmas though....

I am NOT a Scrooge!

I just simply think that the true meaning of Christmas has been lost somewhere along the way.

Anyway, I guess that I need to just buck up and get out there and shop til I drop, crawl up in that dirty attic and rescue those beautiful Christmas baubles, decorate the tree, bake those cookies, and I suppose I can even tolerate one more Christmas song on the radio (even though they have been playing them for a month already).

Sydney and Holden

Well, today was such a sad day for so many people. My heart was hurting for all the family and friends of Raven as they said their final goodbyes. Most of them refused to say goodbye and decided it was best to say "see you later". Tragic as this may be, it brought so many children closer together. It made them realize they can't take life or each other for granted. It is touching to see and hear the way they interact with one another now. I am so thankful to have raised such a compassionate and loving daughter. This morning when I asked Sydney how she was doing she replied that she just didn't want to talk about it because she did not want to cry. She said she needed to focus on supporting Raven's family and friends. I know that she really cares about her friends, and is trying desperately to put on the BRAVE face. I really hope she knows that she can continue to grieve. I love my Sydney....she is such a beautiful person inside and out!

Clean Up "The Street"

Okay, I must say Sesame Street has gone too far. I understand the desire that children's shows have to appeal to the parents because it increases their ratings, but I can only take so much. Today on Sesame Street, they had Donald Grump....a loosely based Apprentice skit that even included a character named "Omagrossa". In a nutshell, Grump was trying to find someone to help him sort his trash and was using the coined term "Your Fired" to eliminate the contestants. It was moderately humorus, but I say "Enough is Enough." I can't even find the words right now to convey my feelings on this. I just think that the writers should keep "The Street" pure and I don't believe that these Saturday Night Live type skits really speak to our younger viewers the way they should. I am not saying that it wasn't enjoyable, or that I hated it. I am just saying it is not the Sesame Street that I remember when I was growing up, or the one I visited with my first child. Clean up "The Street" please, or we may not come back to visit.

Take Time To Pray

Please take time out of your busy day to say a quick prayer for the family of Raven Bordieri. Raven was struck by a car, run over multiple times and killed last night while trying to cross Hwy 6 going from the movie theater to the carnival. I can't begin to imagine the pain that her parents and family are feeling this morning. Sydney, is grief stricken by this so keep her in your thoughts and prayers as well.
Raven turned 13 in August. She was with a couple of friends at the movies and after wards they decided to go to the carnival. Instead of walking down to the light, which was merely yards away, they decided to cross the highway. There is an on-ramp right there also, so we aren't sure exactly what happened, but we think it was a car already on the highway. Regardless, I hope that Sydney learned from this unfortunate circumstance. It is always sad when we have to learn from mistakes that take the lives of others. Going to church this morning was really good for us though. It helped give us comfort and our pastor and his wife offered so much support to Sydney. He even mentioned Raven prior to his sermon even though she was not a member of our congregation. He knew that many of the kids at FUMC knew Raven and wanted to offer his sympathy.
